What Does Area Board 9 Do?
Area Board 9 advocates for the rights of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Area Board 9 is one of 13 regional offices of the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities.
At Area Board 9, we:
- Protect and advocate for the rights of persons with developmental disabilities.
- Work to increase awareness of developmental disabilities.
- Educate our communities about barriers to inclusion, employment and participation in all community activities.
- Review policies and practices of agencies that serve people with developmental disabilities to determine whether they meet their legal obligations.
- Participate in meetings with different agencies to make sure they provide services and supports of the highest possible quality.
