Bio

Born and raised in the district, Assemblymember Smyth attended local public schools. He served previously on the Santa Clarita City Council from 2000–2006 with two terms as Mayor. Assemblymember Smyth has also been active in the community serving on the board and volunteering with several non-profit organizations including: the American Red Cross' local blood drive program, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, Special Olympics, Betty Ferguson Foundation, Santa Clarita Valley Jaycees, and the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce.
